Hi, I’m Sara Ruth! I was raised in Pearland, TX, just outside of Houston. I was a dancer and wanted to be a professional ballerina until I discovered Turner Classic Movies during a bout of Bronchitis and fell in love with film.

I moved to Brooklyn, NY at 18 to attend Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College, where I trained at the ultra-competitive three year Brooklyn College school of drama and minored in film production. My scholarship to Brooklyn College also allowed me to study abroad at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland for a magical semester abroad.

After graduating, I had the honor of starring in several plays, including two new works at the Public Theater. In 2022, I wrote, financed, and shot my first short film, Untidy, winning the best actress award at the New York Independent Cinema Awards. Most recently, I had the privilege of acting in a new work at Yale University.

In addition to acting, I’m also an accomplished stand up and improvisational comedian, performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade, Union Hall, and Broadway Comedy club, among many other venues in New York and Los Angeles. I continue to train, write, create, and perform my work all around the country.

When I’m not performing, you can find me sleeping, hanging with my beautiful cat, Hugh, or having anxiety about nothing in particular.
